Gelar tersebut juga menjadi gelar ketiga Barcelona dalam enam musim terakhir di kompetisi Liga Champions. Juga trofi itu menegaskan dominasi Barcelona di musim ini setelah juga mampu meraih trofi domestik La Liga Spanyol beberapa minggu lalu.
